Montrose Tear Down

One huge part of our company is our sustainably sourced material. All of our wood is 100% reclaimed and it comes in many forms, sizes and locations in order to perfectly fit one of our designs. Not only do we believe in the positive impacts reclaiming wood does for our community and environment, we also believe that the wood is far superior to its younger counterparts. Aged wood has beautiful characteristics unlike anything else.

This week, our partners, Blight Busters, were able to go to a farm in Montrose, Georgia and tear down one of two farmhouses. The best we can tell, this house dates prior to 1900 based on the style of construction and the cuts of the timber. It is super exciting to go and explore abandoned houses. You get to investigate and wonder how it was built, who lived here and what kind of memories were made here.

Even though a good part of the house is missing, the quality of the wood recovered was unlike anything else and now we are truly antsy to build a table or bed out of it!
